THE OPINIONS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS AND TEACHERS IN RELATION TO THEIR CAUSES OF ANGER, ANGER EXPRESSION STYLES AND ANGER MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES

Abstract

In this research, it was aimed to determine the opinions of the elementary school teachers and administrators related to their causes of anger, anger expression styles and anger management strategies. Within this purpose, the questionnaire which was developed by the researcher consists of four parts. In the introduction paragraph, an explanatory note takes place for the participants about the questionnaire. In the first part, personal questions about the participants, in the second part, the opinions of teachers and school administrators related to their causes of anger; in the third part, their opinions related to their anger expression styles, in the fourth part, their anger management strategies took place. The questionnaire consisting of 46 items was applied to 356 school administrators and 381 elementary school teachers working in the area of Metropolitan Municipality of Ankara. According to the results of the research, there is no significant difference in the opinions of the school administrators and teachers related to their causes of anger in terms of duty and professional experience. In terms of gender, there is no significant difference between administrators and teachers whereas female teachers tend to be more frequently angry than male teachers. In the anger expression styles dimension, it was determined that teachers express their anger more frequently than the administrators and female administrators express their anger more frequently than male administrators. Professional expression is an important variable both for teachers and administrators. In the opinions of administrators and teachers in relation with their anger management strategies, there is no significant difference in terms of gender and duty between teachers and administrators whereas professional experience is a significant variable both for teachers and administrators.
