Abstract

The study was conducted to determine the predictors of adolescents’ adjustment. The predicted variable was adolescents’ adjustment and the predicating variables were gender, parent attachment (mother and father), and peer attachment. A total of 227 participants, high school students aged from 14 to 18, were included from two different regions in Ankara. 126 of them were females and the rest, 101 were males. The mean age of the group was 16.02 (SD=1.07). The Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA; Armsden & Greenberg, 1986) and Reynolds Adolescent Adjustment Screenings (RAAS; Reynolds, 2001) were administered during the class hour. Hierarchical regression analysis was used to determine the predictors of the adolescents’ adjustment. The results of the hierarchical regression analyses revealed that the adolescents’ adjustment was affected by mother attachment, father attachment and peer attachment. However, gender was not a significant predictor of the adjustment.
