EVALUATION OF INSERVICE TRAINING RELATED TO USAGE OF INTERACTIVE WHITE BOARDS BASED ON TEACHERS PERCEPTION

Abstract

The purpose of research is to present the effectiveness of teachers’ in-service training who use interactive white board during education-traning according to their views within the scope of FATIH Project. Therefore, qualitative research method has been used and interview form has been prepared as means of gathering data. Interview form consists of 15 questions and has been applied after necessary changes were made by three PhD experts in educational sciences field. The study’s data have been gotten by interviewing 15 teachers from 3 different schools of Van Directorate of National Education within the scope of pilot application of FATIH Project in 2012-2013. In the research teachers haveemphasized that teachers has sufficient qualifications in terms of technology, that the training of how to use interactive white board is inadequate in using it effectively, that the contents to be used by interactive white boards are prepared by teachers and they use it mostly in presenting visual and auditory materials and writing, that the usage of it has increased attitude and motivation of students for lesson, and that it had to be used in education earlier as it has positive acceleration in education. And also teachers have stated that the problems they experience in using interactive white boards stems from hardware and software. And in-service training said by teachers to be theoretical not applicable and the training is given in two days. 9 of 10 teachers stated that the given training was beneficial in using interactive white board, and the 1 teacher stated that it wasn’t useful.
