THE EFFECT OF EMOTION MANAGEMENT EDUCATION PROGRAMME ON PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS’ EMOTION MANAGEMENT SKILLS

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of emotion management skills education programme on prospective teachers’ emotion management skills. To select subject for experimental and control groups, it were considered some criteria such as voluntariness, gender and socio-economic status. Since the subjects groups were not assigned to experimental and control groups randomly, a pretest- posttest quasi experimental design was used. For the experimental group, based on cognitive-behavioural techniques emotion management skills programme as an independent variable was carried out during 90-120 minutes lasting 11 weeks, while the control group did not received any treatment. The data of study were collected through “Emotion Management Scale” developed by the researcher. The Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) tecnique was used to analysis of data. After the experimental treatment 6- 13 weeks follow up were applied and data were analysed paired t test technique. The results of the study indicated that the group experience based on emotion management skills education programme had significantly positive effect on prospective teachers’ emotion management skills and this effect keep on after 6- 13 weeks from experimental treatment.
