THE STUDENT CENTERED ASSESSMENT APPROACHES

Abstract

We live in a age in which knowledge increases and changes rapidly. Parallel to this dynamic change; expectations of the society, both from individiuals and the educational institutions those educate the individuals, also change. We observe the reflections of this change as rearrangement of the educational settings, meaningful and constant gains of the students like carrying the educational experiences to the real life situations. These reforms in educational activities also necessitate some changes in the evaluation processes. So the student centered assessment in which educators have the chance to evaluate the process gains importance. The aim of this article is trying to introduce the student centered assessment approaches to the readers. Performance assessment, authentic assessment, portfolio, self assessment, peer assessment, co-assessment, overall test, and rubric are introduced.
