TESTING SUBJECTIVE WELL-BEING’S CONCEPTUAL STRUCTURE
WİTH CONFIRMATORY FACTOR ANALYSIS

Abstract

In this research, as one of the most important concepts of positive psychology, subjective well-being’s conceptual structure was tried to be tested with confirmatory factor analysis. In addition to two models in accordance with the original structure of the concept, an alternative model derived from an exploratory factor analysis made by the researcher was tested. The research sample was totally 484 university students. The explatory and confirmatory factor analysis technique were used to analysis of data.The results are presented as the first evidence suggesting that the original model could not be valid in our culture. The results can also be caused by the conceptual problems concerning the original model as well as those of cultural. The results of the research are discussed with regard to conceptual and cultural dimensions, and the suggestions for the next research are presented.
